About EMRA

We are a community of Egyptian orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians, physical therapists, rheumatologists, neurologists, neuroscientists, orthodontists, and veterinaries who are dedicated to advancing the sciences behind achieving better musculoskeletal health in low-and-middle-income countries (LMICs), specifically in Egypt and its neighboring countries.

Who We Are

Coming from a combined clinical and research perspective, Dr. Mahmoud A Hafez set his mind to finding a research association that supports evidence-based clinical practice in LMICs. He thought about transferring the expertise of researchers and clinicians from various developed countries to technology-deprived countries by founding the Egyptian Musculoskeletal Research Association (EMRA). Established on the 14th of February of 2010, the EMRA sought to facilitate academic activities and high-quality research that aims at producing innovations and international publications.

EMRA Services

To best serve our societies, we offer a wide variety of on-site courses, reading materials, and free online lectures to be accessed by any member.

We also offer various opportunities to advance one’s career like guiding young researchers to complete their master’s or doctorate theses, initiating new research ideas for enthusiasts, fundraising to aid in the conduction of research, and helping them get on the international stage by publishing their work in international journals.

And as a sign of goodwill, we established the Al-Mohsen Medical Charity to offer free medical treatment to people who cannot afford to pay for their medical bill. We focus on medical services related to Orthopedic trauma Surgery. We also offer free training courses for doctors and nurses in the field. Moreover, outstanding doctors and nurses can apply for the Al-Mohsen Medical Prize, which is an annual, merit-based prize.

Lastly, we hold the yearly International Arthroplasty Conference. This was the first arthroplasty conference in the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean Region. The annual arthroplasty conference presents recent advances in high tech computer assisted orthopaedic surgery, live surgery transmission, and an opportunity to meet experts, innovators, and scientists in the field of arthroplasty. For more information, please visit the official website of the conference.
