Prof. Dr. Mahmoud A Hafez, MSc Orth, Dip SICOT, FRCS Ed, PhD
Prof. Dr. Hafez has been pioneering and developing the patient-specific instrumentation (PSI) technique and custom-made guides for total knee arthroplasty (TKA) since 2001. He is an inventor with twenty patents on PSI and implants for bone and joint surgery. He has also authored more than fifty journal articles and thirteen book chapters. He is a winner of the UK Alumni Award British Council 2018, Gold Medal from Geneva inventions 2014 and 2016, Hap Paul Award from ISTA 2010, and few others.
He was trained in orthopedics and worked in the UK for more than ten years. He received arthroplasty fellowship in Wrightington Hospital, Wigan, UK (2004), Western Pennsylvania Hospital, Pittsburgh, USA (2004-2005), and St. Michael’s Hospital, University of Toronto, Canada (2006). He is currently a Professor and Head of the Orthopedic Department at the Faculty of Medicine, October 6 University, Egypt. He also serves as a visiting professor in New Vision University, Georgia, and External supervisor of PhD program in Cardiff University, Wales, UK.
Dr. Mohamed Kandil, MSc
Dr. Kandil is an orthopaedic senior specialist in Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Oman. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in 2002 and since that date he served in the ministries of Health in Egypt, Oman, and the UAE. He has broad experience in orthopedics with special interest in arthroplasty, arthroscopy, deformity correction with external fixator devices and complex trauma including pelvis and acetabulum.
Moreover, Dr. Kandil has shared the efforts in helping and treating poor people in Africa through his work with different NGOs. He has presented many papers in different international orthopaedic conferences. Additionally, he is participating in teaching young orthopaedic surgeons through his faculty membership in the AO foundation.
Dr Kandil has published many research papers in knee arthroplasty, trauma, and deformity correction using the Ilizarov external fixator

Dr. Abdelrahman Elsayid, MBBCh, MPH
Dr. Elsayid (Publication Name: Abdelrahman M Makram) is an anesthesiology and intensive care medicine resident at October 6 University Hospital, a Master of Public Health candidate at Imperial College London, and a research fellow at the Orthopaedic Department of October 6 University. He has had a great interest in medical research since his second year of medical school. He has published more than three dozen papers in multiple fields including orthopedics, women’s health, pediatrics, infectious diseases, and public health. He has also published a book chapter about the use of artificial intelligence in advancing medical biology. He serves as a peer-reviewer at more than twenty journals and an academic editor at four prestigious journals. His research mainly focuses on public health and women’s and children’s health.
Dr. Randa Elsheikh, MBBCh, MSc
Dr. Elsheikh is a plastic and reconstructive surgery resident at October 6 University Hospital and a Master of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases candidate at the University of Edinburgh. She started her research career early in her medical studies, and she has managed to publish nearly twenty papers through her international work with Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Huy. She has also published a book chapter about the use of artificial intelligence in advancing medical biology. Her research mainly focuses on infectious diseases, infection control, and trauma surgery.
